THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008

Back to Aspen Grove Dressage News & Events.

23rd September 2008

The Nationals was a great show. The horses all went well and the weather was perfect.

On the Thursday, Aspen Grove Duvie competed in the Prix St George and Nurejev in the Inter II.

Duvie worked in great. He felt the best he has all year. Unfortunately, through the test he got his tongue over the bit, so I retired. These things happen, it was such a pity as he was really flying.

Nurejev has been improving all year. He gave me a great ride, and other than a small interruption on the last centre line, the test really flowed. He finished in second place. Only just 0.04% behind the winner. It doesn't get any closer!

Friday was a free day so the horses were worked quietly.

First on Saturday was Dior in the Advanced Medium. Like the other two horses, he has been improving all year and felt great leading up to the show. He has never felt better in the arena. I could ride for a lot more power and be more technical. He finished in 2nd place.

Nurejev then competed in the Grand Prix. This was his forth test at this level. He gave me a great ride, he was nice and confident with the work and coped with the atmosphere without a problem. With his best score at this level he finished 7th.

I could not have asked for more from the boys over the weekend.
