When entering Addington PL the aim was to try to achieve three things. Firstly to qualify Duvie for the Young Horse Finals at Hickstead. Secondly to give Sandman his first run at PSG level at a Premier League and thirdly to give Nurejev another confident ride through an INT II.
We had a great show and achieved everything that we hoped for.
Aspen Grove Duvie completed one of his best tests so far and finished 2nd which qualifies him for the final. We now need to work a little more on his changes. Then we will aim for the International Class, which is similar to an easy Advanced Medium, but considering the horses are only 6 it's is a hard test.
Sandman had his first big show since last years Winter Championships. He had his first appearance at a small show last Friday where he won his first PSG. Today was in a big class against great competition. He went the best he could at present and won with 71.37% in only his second ever PSG. The test other than a mistake in the four time changes was fault free. He now needs more power to be able to get the big marks. One thing that did happen in the test though, was that I went wrong...... I came around the top corner after an extension and thought "Nice", then proceeded to go straight past A where I was to halt and rein back. When the bell rang I thought maybe the judges were enjoying it so much they were cheering for me, then realized, "no.....gone wrong!" It happens!
Nurejev did himself proud and finished 4th in the Inter 11. He did a great test but the piaffe still needs lots of improvement. This will come with time. What was really pleasing though, was that he enjoyed himself and loved being back at the top shows.
